It always stuns me to see which candidates without hesitation buckle to the patriarchal mindset that access to female bodies is negotiable. It comes from a theocratic tendency in this country and a zealous, puritanical strain that believes this ludicrous adage that “if you, woman, didn’t want to be assaulted for your sexuality you shouldn’t have expressed it.”. Demand better of your candidates, dear voter. Don’t just show up at the rally to cheer and perhaps get a selfie. Show up to tell them that you want them to be the candidate that you need.  PS: I’m also happy to make the very cogent argument that this is an economic issue for the candidate(s) for whom that is the forever touchstone.  EDIT: the crimes above are overwhelmingly perpetrated against women, but they do on occasion victimize men, as well. All victims, regardless of gender, are due sovereignty over their bodies and images and due justice when that sovereignty is violated.
