Do you know “Shamoji” ? Shamoji is rice-serving paddles. Miyajima-Hyakushi is famous Shamoji in Japan. Miyajima is a beautiful island off the coast of Hiroshima. People believed that gods were living in this island, so anyone could not grow vegetables for human and there was no the main industry. The Buddhist monk of Miyajima devised to make Shamoji what he inspired by the instrument (BIWA) of a goddess and recommended people of Miyajima to sell it as souvenirs. It was an origin of Shamoji in Japan.
