Tanuki and Tits. I've been trying to catch a glimpse of the Tanuki (狸 - Japanese raccoon dog) here in Ota, Gunma and finally saw one on a camera trap. I've also loved getting to know some of the birds we find in our town and the local forest, like the Japanese tit (Parus minor). What animals do you love seeing where you live? What would you like to see more of?

At home in Canberra, I'd love to see bettongs, bandicoots and other smaller marsupials in the nature reserves. For that to happen we'd have to do much better control of feral cats and foxes. It's exciting to think about what the Australian landscape could be like - see @mulligansflat @australianwildlifeconservancy @aussieark.
