Legislative sessions in various states are starting up again, so it's going to be an action-packed few months for our team. Hopefully we will have another big win this year! “The air I have been breathing my whole life is musty and dirty. In the shadows of Boston skyscrapers and the fumes I-93 traffic, my Chinatown makes me cough so much I developed asthma. I remember my first field trip in 6th grade, hiking Blue Hills south of the city where, surrounded by lush forest, the chirps of birds, the crunch of leaves underfoot, I could finally breathe in air that did not smell like gas and cigarettes. But the strange weather recently has got me worried about these last refuges of the natural world we have. While we had plenty of snowstorms last year, nothing has stuck this year and I even recall a year when it reached nearly 70 degrees Fahrenheit on Christmas! I was first exposed to environmental issues in middle and high school, as I was swept into a “save the turtles” action and got people to buy more metal straws. However, we need more than consumer choices to fix climate change which threatens the entire planet. I realize that tons of other youth are trying to stop the climate emergency, and we must take bigger strides. By talking face to face with legislators to promote campaigns like #PutAPriceOnIt, we can make a big difference.”」1月13日 2時45分
