Jim Apostle was one-of-a kind and although our hearts are broken (again), they are still so full of the love he inspired. I am grateful for his remarkable spirit and the wisdom and joy he gave us. Jim brought out the best in everyone and for a 93-year-old guy who was born to Greek immigrants, grew up in the Depression and joined the Navy at age 17 to fight in Okinawa in WWII and then work hard to become a successful businessman and county coroner for 30 years, his optimism and playful nature was what defined him. His belief in the human race was unshakable and even in this tense time in our culture he’d say to me, “I haven’t met five bad people in my lifetime“. And I saw him live that philosophy for the 23 years I knew him, because everywhere he went, he made friends. He was one of my favorite people and dance partners and he still knew the all lyrics to all the great music from the ‘40’s. He was proud that he raised and educated five kids with his accomplished wife and proud of his alma mater @michiganstateu #gogreengowhite It was a privilege to know and care for that special man and it is a comfort to know that he is resting up for the next turn around the dance floor with his beloved Gerry who he has missed terribly.
