Amber is a crested mona monkey that calls Park Assango in Gabon home. Around her face, you’ll notice her yellow fur is yellow marked with wide black stripes which runs from beside her eyes over to her temples and across the center of her forehead. This pattern forms a distinctive small crest; the defining feature that gives Amber’s species its common name. The crested mona monkey is a highly vocal species that can produce a variety of booming calls. Dominant males use these vocalizations to announce their presence and status, and are normally the head of groups containing between 8 and 20 individuals.
