"There’s nowhere I’d rather celebrate this Thanksgiving than right here with the toughest, strongest, best and bravest warriors on the face of the Earth," President Donald Trump said to US troops during his surprise trip to Afghanistan, where he also announced peace talks with the Taliban have restarted. The President served Thanksgiving dinner to about two dozen troops before sitting down to eat with Sen. John Barrasso and a commander based at Bagram Air Field north of Kabul. It was his first trip to the country and his second visit to US troops overseas in a war zone following a trip to Iraq at the end of last year. There are about 12,000 US troops currently serving in Afghanistan.
