The giant balloons flew today, just not very high. A forecast of gusting winds threatened to ground the iconic balloons of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but they were given the go-ahead just before the 9 a.m. start. The 16 giant balloons crawled their way down New York City’s streets after handlers were instructed to keep them just feet from the ground. They battled gusts that caused the balloons to bounce off heads and tip toward the crowds. Fortunately, the only injury was Ronald McDonald, whose left leg fluttered deflated as the parade marched on. Which balloon was your favorite?
