Both me and my brother have had crazy curls since we were little. I always hated my hair growing up.. For many years I straightened my hair chemically and used flat irons almost every day. I would not accept my hair or myself for what I was, and a big part of it was figure skating. I thought, and was told by some coaches that my hair didn’t really fit the image of a figure skater and I had to “fix it”. And put it back. My friends, although appearance is a part of figure skating it is NOT THE MOST important part, yes we gatta make it look pretty, but it is a SPORT. It took me many years to get where I am today. I am finally learning to accept myself and my natural looks. Please don’t forget that God made you perfect the way that you are, so work hard at embracing your body’s natural ways, and work with your body instead of working against it.
