Latrell and his sister Chanya had lived with more than a dozen foster families before they were they were taken in by Kelli Higgins. They arrived at her Florida house with their few belongings, and not a single family photograph. But armed with her camera, their adoptive mother set out to make sure they felt like they were truly home, with a creative photo “newborn” photo shoot that became a viral sensation. “It was the start of my new life,” says Latrell, now a 20-year-old college student.
