Every couple years or so I grow it out & donate it for wigs for children who’ve lost their hair to cancer treatment, alopecia, or other medical hair loss. It’s good to read the fine print of which organization you donate to because many of them have varying terms. You only have to do a small amount of research to find the one that suites your likeness. For instance some may require 8inches, some 10-12in. If the hair is unusable for their standards, some may sell it for profit instead (sometimes this goes to offset manufacturing costs). Most all organizations don’t make children pay for wigs, but there might be some that provide for adults pending income status. Some places may/may not accept chemically treated, bleached, dyed, grey, permed or dreadlocked. Here are a few places if you’re interested: Wigs for Kids, Hair We Share, Children with Hair Loss, Locks of Love, Pink Heart Funds, Matter of Trust-Clean Wave Program (this one’s especially interesting as they accept as little as 3in, hair salon clippings, also from pets, fleece, feathers from farmers, laundry lint!
