These hikes and trails have been around centuries, and tells us a unique story. This location is called Lula Lake. It was once occupied by Native Americans over thousands of years ago. It was a popular tourist attraction even before the civil war, was once a coal mining site, and even used to dump waste. In 1994 this part of the Appalachian Mountains became a land trust and is now protected. Over 10,000 acres of land is transforming back to its original beauty.
