Our first introduction to Australia came in 1958 at the site of the country’s greatest engineering project, the Snowy Hydro Scheme. Local industrialist, Sir Leslie Thiess privately imported twelve LandCruisers to use on the harsh, rugged construction site. Thiess was so impressed with the LandCruisers durability and unwavering toughness, that he applied to become an official distributor the following year. Sixty years on, the Snowy Hydro Scheme produces electricity for three states and diverts vital water supplies to drought prone areas. We’re proud to have played a part in the construction of this iconic infrastructure that continues to allow communities big and small to thrive.
