Growing up in South Africa, Karabo Poppy was obsessed with art but could rarely find herself or her experiences reflected in it. She found an exception in the barbershops and salons of Johannesburg. Her love for art grew around the colorful hand-painted signage, the bold typography, and the profiles of people with different hair styles lining the walls. Her goal is to make art both accessible and functional, which is why she’s chosen the Air Force 1 as her ideal canvas. To say we love Karabo’s take on our classic shoe would be an understatement.
