But I'm grateful for a little more experience and another chance to go to Japan. Xiamen started out with speed qualifiers, which is something I've been focusing a lot on lately, even working with a speed coach a couple times a week. So I felt like I was better prepared than ever going into the weekend... And I proceeded to fall on both my runs😑 The lead qualifiers kind of reflected speed. I had a good go on my first quali route, but fell on the last move of the second which in any other comp would have been a good performance! But THIS particular second route was topped by almost 2/3 of the category, so for me it added up to 38th place. Arriving in Japan was relieving, it felt familiar. Makes sense, considering the team had already been twice this year. Training at BPump and Project was even sicker than usual, and I was a little bit surprised to find my bouldering fitness pretty in tune. Inzai's route setting was definitely my favorite of the season, and I was psyched to make it into semis with 5 other US athletes, a record for the team.
