I’d just moved to LA and he offered his office on the Paramount lot to write. I remember the walls filled floor to ceiling with photos of him with some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, some of the biggest actors spanning three decades. It was daunting, sitting at his huge desk, so I used to sit on the floor with my laptop on the coffee table. • He’d invite me to his home behind the Beverly Hills Hotel. He had a proper butler and the best bacon, it was paper thin from some special place he never revealed. We’d gossip for hours, he had so many stories and I’d listen to them sometimes over and over. • I’m glad I got to know him for that short time.
