We, the organizers & authors of the #QueridaFamilia letter, put out a call to our allies to link arms with us to show love and support for the Latinx community. This message was especially urgent and important in the wake of the constant barrage of attacks on our community, including the tragic El Paso massacre. The WMC answered our call by giving us a platform to spread our message, as well as by pledging their sisterhood and support. On behalf of the 6 of us and each of the almost 250 signatories to the letter, plus everyone who made the publication of the letter possible, we are humbled & honored to receive the 2019 WMC Solidarity Award. My heart is full from sharing last night with my hermanas. We missed America-- our hermana, partner for good & one of the driving forces behind the letter-- but she was present in spirit & in our hearts. We remain committed to combating hate with love.
