Since I wanted to tell a story involving my molestation as a child I figured the rest of it should be as close to real as possible. There are definitely some fun moments that I fantasized about as a child and got to make them a reality in this film. For instance, my mother was so tough... she had me at 16 and by 18 she was a prison guard and raising me as a single mom. I was sheltered and she tried her best to keep me safe. I look back at my teenage self and think about the times I didn’t stand up for myself or anyone else... I was a shy introvert. One thing I really wanted to do in this film was show my desire to do the same for her. I wanted to take care of her for a change. Show her that I can be strong and stand up for something too.
