In 2017, this beautiful animal—the Tapanuli Orangutan—became the first great ape species identified since the Bonobo in 1929.
Now, a mere two years later, the orangutan has joined a list of the world’s most imperiled primates, just published in a report, “Primates in Peril: The World’s 25 Most Endangered Primates: 2018-2020.”
With 43 percent of the world’s primates classified as Critically Endangered or Endangered by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, the report is not just a warning, but a clear call for action, meant to spur conservation action and unlock support for the orangutan and 24 other species that made the list. @global_wildlife_conservation @bristolzoo
