Because more and more capitalism is showing it’s self as being in capable of delivering any real, lasting progress for the majority of people in this country and the next and more and more we are being offered nothing but destruction. Destruction of our environment in the name of profit, destruction of our democracy in the name of “security” and destruction in the form of war in an endless competition for supremacy, the world’s military spending reached almost 2 trillion dollars last year! Imagine if that money was invested into green technology!? Anti-depressants, displays of technological advancements and tabloids can only work so long in distracting the people from the reality of our decaying world and the majority of politicians who value themselves over humanity. So when I say the following its not because I believe that personal actions can ever replace systematic changes especially in a world where 70 percent of pollution is produced by privately owned corporations. However if you should be inclined to buy more vintage or sustainable fashion, take 5 minute showers, recycle more, take public transport instead of driving, that could only be a positive personal action.
