I started tracking everything with a document and serial number, and I’d note the group who needed it so we knew where it was. Data makes sense to me; it’s logical. Putting it together, we were able to see the bigger picture. We were able to share info with these other organizations and now everyone could keep track of what came in, and where it went, and what we did with the original pieces of data. That position started because of 9/11. Once we got bin Ladin’s data in the door and managed it and distributed it, I said, ‘It started because of this, and now people are trained, and now I can leave.’ I was there for 10 years. I loved working with the data, that was my happy place.”
