She is the leading mare of the herd, so she is always giving directions for the whole herd. Her constant movement as the leader has made it a challenge to get a decent photo of her. She makes sure everyone keeps up, so I have about 1000 photos of her fiercely pinning her ears back to make the other horses move. But I wanted to capture a more relaxed photo of her. Maybe because she is cool - like, yeah, super chill, Garfield-kinda-chill. She’s one of the most relaxed wild horses I've ever seen. When the rest of the herd begins freaking out, she will shine calmness into the atmosphere with just being there. To me, this makes her the perfect leader. She is calm and kind, a loving mother, a strong partner to the leading stallion, as solid as a rock, and she always speaks the truth. She is bold, in a beautifully feminine way. She is constantly good - just good. Not perfect, not desperately controlling.
