For the past 40 Fridays, the 14-year-old protester Alexandria Villaseñor has sat outside of the U.N.—in wind, in rain, and in a subzero sleeping bag during a polar vortex—to demand action on climate change. Yesterday, she had company: more than 3 million people participated in a #ClimateStrike that spanned 156 countries. Villaseñor, who is one of the youngest organizers of the strike, took the stage in Battery Park, where a crowd of 250,000 had gathered, to introduce her friend Greta Thunberg, whom she called “an icon of our time” and “the nicest, kindest, most humble person I ever met.” Tap the link in our bio to read more.
