Like many theatre performers, I can honestly say that my life and career have been changed forever by Jonathan Larson. First as an admiring fan of RENT. Then being in the show as my first job. Then revisiting at the Hollywood Bowl. And then to meeting and working with two Jonathan Larson Grant reciepients Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey in Next to Normal. “The Larson Family came to the American Theatre Wing in 2009 and in the last 22 years, The Jonathan Larson® Grants have said “YES” to more than 135 artists and invested over $730,000 in the future voices of the theatre. To date, these recipients have earned 41 Tony nominations, 6 Tony Awards, 2 Oscars, 6 Grammys, 10 Obies, 1 Olivier, 4 Emmys, and 1 Pulitzer prize.
