When most people think about adventuring in the Pacific Northwest they envision mountains and valleys, rivers and glaciers. But there’s a whole other world to explore where the Pacific Ocean meets the North American continent. So a group of friends and I took to the beach this August for a weekend on the Washington Coast at Olympic National Park’s Second Beach to discover this unique landscape. ⁣ ⁣ Since the hike to the beach is less than a mile long with minimal elevation gain, we decided to go all out on our food setup (more on that later) and include a few more luxuries than we normally would on a backpacking trip. Once out on the beach we were treated to a beautiful afternoon exploring tidepools, watching eagles circle over the bluffs, and a stunning sunset.
