The question “Am I strong enough?” often worked its way into my mind. Without believing it’s hard to focus and nearly impossible to perform to your capability. There wasn’t a single World Cup this year where I was close to satisfied with my performance. With the help of my beloved parents I realized that it wasn’t my physical strength that was lacking, but my mind that was elsewhere. Listening to their wisdom from their many years of high level competition, I am learning how much power the mind has over performance. • At world champs I was able to clear my mind and truly enjoy myself, which lead to some climbing I can say I’m proud of. I still can’t say I’m fully satisfied with my performance in Tokyo, but I’ll be back. Qualifying for Tokyo 2020 means that I get another chance to push my limits, both physically and mentally, all while representing my country.
