I’m making a movie about the true denial and reconciliation of being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. The story takes place in 1998, but the same waves happen every day. The denial, the want to escape, the realization that I’m trapped and have to deal with it. I’m not easy to live with. I don’t get many things right, and it makes me feel guilty. I do just want to be normal, and instead I’m this weird person. I sense when I’m weird and it makes things worse. I guess, sometimes it’s easy to accept that fact, and other times, it really isn’t. I’m a mother and a partner and a friend; and my brain, and my disorder, sincerely makes me insufficient in these realms. Don’t try to tell me otherwise. I can see it and it makes me mad and sad.
