We had always planned to visit Yosemite at some point... why not now! Half Dome is the most iconic hike there is but also is one of the toughest, steepest and most dangerous and requires a permit allowing 300 people up each day. We didn’t expect to get one but 4 hours after applying we were all set to go. No warm up hikes to start, this would be the first hike of the trip so we decided to start as early as possible to avoid the crowds and heat. It was tough and terrifying but exhilarating! We started at 4am and completed the 4200ft and 18 mile hike in 8.5 hours. A greasy burger and fries for lunch was certainly guilt free!
