Homeowners are increasingly looking for ways to bring the outdoors inside their homes. For some homeowners in Long Island’s North Fork, this means porches, balconies, and lots of windows. “My clients are coming out of Manhattan and Brooklyn and they are looking for that combination of indoor and outdoor living,” said one real estate agent in Southold, New York. One Long Island home was built to incorporate a surrounding meadow. “We wanted to respect the idea that a meadow was here,” said the architect. “Rather than obliterating the meadow and planting a large trophy home, we wanted to take the idea of peeling the meadow up and kind of tuck the house underneath it.” (📸: Ty Cole, Michael Moran)
