I had the good fortune to shoot with the then brand new mirrorless EOS R, and dedicated RF 24-105 F4L lens. After a quick briefing on it, I felt confident about using the new system, which I did exclusively for the next two weeks of our workshops. At first I was a little skeptical about adapting my EOS lenses onto the new camera. Those thoughts quickly faded, the system works seamlessly with the dedicated lenses or the adapter for previous EOS lens system. Needless to say, the image quality from the camera and lenses is superb, reminding me of my 5D Mark IV. The electronic viewfinder proved to be a pleasure to use, and its really nice knowing the view through the viewfinder represents how the actual image appears. If the exposure looks right through the electronic viewfinder, then its correct. There are some serious autofocus advantages to this mirrorless design. First the focusing is super accurate, taken right off the imaging sensor, and secondly, the AF points cover nearly the entire viewfinder. The AF points can also be moved as desired just by dragging your thumb over the rear LCD, how convenient. I had never seriously used a camera with a flip out rear LCD, but now I’m a fan. Love to have this feature on all my cameras. This is just the beginning, can’t wait to see what the future holds down the mirrorless road." - Adam Jones
