Alice Allison Dunnigan was an African-American journalist and civil rights activist. She became the head of the Associated Negro Press Washington Bureau and spent 14 years filing stories printed in 112 African-American newspapers across the country. She was the first African-American woman correspondent to receive White House credentials and the first black female member of the Senate and House of Representatives press galleries.
