Couple things happening here. First for the last couple years I have been testing the theory if sharks see color? If so what colors are they attracted to? 100+ dives later I can tell you that White sharks have a favorite color and that color is YELLOW!! One might guess RED would be what they’re drawn to as it may resemble blood, but their interest in red, blue, orange were equal to the black wetsuits. When I wore yellow the sharks would try their ambush approach 6 to 1 yel over black. Every dive in the yellow suit, I was hyper alert. The waters are flush with Yellow Fin tuna and quickly made the correlation between the two and realized I was a BIG yellow fin tuna! The other thing you’ll notice if you watch the video to the end you’ll notice the 15 foot shark swimming behind and I am turning my back and you see my head on a swivel, always looking for that shark trying to surprise you. Constant vigilance required at all times doing these experiments with @hubermanlab A big thank you to @patagonia for making me the custom colored wetsuits allowing me to be a human guinea pig. Mick fanning had a white shark attack his board in the middle of a surf contest, guess what color the bottom of the board was? YELLOW. There are numerous other examples but the take away, don’t wear YELLOW in waters frequented by white sharks.
