I'm a yoga-practicing, cat-loving, vegetable enthusiast living in NYC. When I'm not teaching or planning lessons, you'll find me at the park, reading a book, meditating, or spending time with my loved ones (kitty included, of course). I'm headed into my fourth year of teaching high school, and although teaching has its challenges, I love what I do. By far, the best part of my job is the fun of getting to know a person at such a transformative and curious time of life-- the tender age of 14. From this I can conclude at least one thing definitively: My students are gems! It's for this reason I wanted to send my book wishlist. I teach 9th grade English at Bronx Envision Academy, a small (~415 students) Title I, Arts high school. Unfortunately our school does not have a library, so it's up to the teachers to provide a wealth of books for the teens. I want to cultivate a love of reading in my students, and for that to happen we need books that are diverse and inclusive. I aim to provide my students with ample opportunity to experience the magic of a good book! Ms. Wolf's Book Wish List 2019 was created using feedback from student reading surveys of 9th and 10th grade students at Bronx Envision Academy. Any help obtaining these books for our very deserving students would be greatly appreciated!
