It has been a very eye opening reality that our planet really needs our help. It is our home. The home of our future children and their children. Here are a few pics I took around the world. I read this by @xavierdolan and thought I’d share it: “A church burns - a symbol of faith, identity, heritage. In less than 48h we raise a billion dollars to rebuild it - a project of reconstruction which will undoubtedly span about years if not decades. A project most of us will not even see, a project which budget could save, in a matter of three years, the dramatic fate of the most unvegetated, self-heated, unbreathable city of Western Europe. But alas we must, hastily, recover what’s been lost: clearly, here, a beacon of pride, a fragment of people’s identity, and, factually, a disastrous deprival to a colossal touristic industry. We live in a world where people of power, attached to their image, their past, can spend fortunes, insanely, on redeeming whatever has been lost that they considered a part of themselves and be called heroes. That is an urgency. Thousands of miles away, the Amazon rainforest is burning, but it isn’t as fashionable for the media to cover, apparently, and for donors and men of power to save. A billion dollars here would suffice to extinguish, surely, the fires that have been raging and change the infrastructures that refuse to condemn deforestation... But this is the world we live in. We pray for what truly isn’t useful to us, and pay for what is. This is how and where the wind blows. Towards an unstoppable destruction of what isn’t ours, and an endless love and preservation, of what mirrors our ambitions and personal history. A young girl with Aspergers sails away on a boat to attend a summit in New York, filled with the hopes of an entire generation. She’ll berth later this week to half of this planet’s lungs ruined.
