Born in Larache, Morocco, Hajjaj represents his country in a way that is very different from the stereotypical view. In his colourful, vibrant images, a country open to outside inspiration comes to life, with ancient traditions and youthful counterculture coexisting harmoniously. @mep.paris gave him carte blanche in transforming the Maison Marocaine de la Photographie, a project that represents the path he’s taken in photography, design and fashion (it is no surprise one of the rooms is called Vogue: The Arab Issue). Hajjaj’s images carry forth an idea of art that is fluid, permeable, and in movement. An idea that doesn’t divide; it unites.
