First emergency room visit. One hairline fracture and a finger smushed so hard in the door it popped like a jelly donut.
Thank you so much to @childrensla for the amazing care, thank u Dr. Olsen, and Sonia our child life specialist. Did you know that when you enter the emergency room at @childrensla you immediately get a "Child Life Specialist" trained to make sure your child knows what happening? And to make sure you understand all of what's happening and your choices? It made us feel so safe. And @childrensla follows up the next day with a phone call to make sure all is well after the trauma. Excellent care all around. Thank you to all who helped my baby.
(Ps I'm not attaching a pic of the finger because there was literally burger popping out all over and it as pretty gross.)

foodieinthefort Awww poor honey ❤️ (to both of you!) Fell better soon! Both my kiddos were preemies (my son 3 months preemie... my daughter 5 weeks) and my daughter had esophagus surgery at birth. This resulted in endless hospital stays as she continued to get bigger, due to her special eating needs. While in the ER and while we were admitted... I too experienced a Child Life Specialist in our Albany NY children’s hospital. They were so kind, helpful, and even brought my daughter crafts to do while we were waiting in the room at the ER. After that, I ended up gathering donations to give to the Child Life Specialist... so I could help other children have things to do as well. (As well as the first year frozen came out - my daughter was in the pediatric ICU - and we received 2 copies of frozen on dvd. We donated the other to them and ALL the kiddos in that ICU were able to watch that new movie from their hospital bed... it was amazing) Now, my daughter can eat most things... and winters are a challenge with her narrowing esophagus, she gets really sick, but I know whenever we have to go there... we are in good hands. Once you become a mommy, you notice things. I am sooo happy to hear that you both had compassionate people that turned a scary experience into something much better. ❤️💕

sarahhaslostit My little girl (age 5) did the exact same thing on Thursday. It was her first emergency room visit. The tuft (round tip of you finger) was completely crushed. Some of her finger was almost taken off. They were able to stitch it mostly back on. It got smashed in a door while we were at the zoo. It was awful. I’ll send some healing thoughts your way. To be honest I’m struggling a little bit just thinking that my little girls hand that I’ve held since the moment she came into this world will never be the same. She’s been very brave and handling it like a champ. They told her she will loose her nail and that it most likely wouldn’t grow back. She said, “That’s okay. I’ll get a fake one. That way I can change the color when ever I want.” Kids are so resilient! Sometimes I think it’s harder on us then it is on them. Best of luck. 💕

martinbeks That happened to my sister once when we were kids. Closed her finger in the nursery room door at our church. 25ish years later, my dad closed his finger in the garage door, and yeah. Looked like hamburger. Speedy healing little one!

azculain Oh that hurts like hell, one job I had this thing for this girl who did NOT reciprocate got mad, smashed finger into metal stove, hot metal stove, shattered finger and ripped fingernail off, not pleasant, no sir.

sarzogby @kristenanniebell so sorry! My son did this at school and they had to remove his nail it was crushed so badly (thankful it grew back and thankful for the ER for making all the right choices)

magicalrocker1 Agh, how scary! 😱🤕 Sounds like you guys were well taken care of though. Glad that everyone got patched up just fine.
