#TBT to a moment I’ll never forget ... my first home run at @yankeestadium. It was 1996, less than a month after my 21st birthday and part of a magical breakout season for me with Seattle.

Kenny Rogers, a 200-game winner in his career, was pitching for the Yankees that day and he would eventually go on to help them win the World Series that year. We had a runner aboard in the first and I put a good swing on a 1-0 pitch and was fortunate enough to make solid contact. What made the moment even more special was having the great @joebuck on the call in the booth, along with one of my heroes, Tim McCarver.

It was part of one of my best seasons as a pro and it’s hard to believe that so many years have passed. But I still remember the feeling of hitting that first homer in baseball’s most hallowed sanctuary.

You have always had incredible baseball skills combined w awesome power at the plate. We had to go through seattle year after year and finally got passed them. Thanks for moving to third so this yankee fan got to enjoy watching two of the best short stops of my lifetime play together.
