Let’s get into some #inspirationwednesday. In 1951, Henrietta Lacks was diagnosed with cervical cancer. While she was being treated, a sample of cancerous cells was taken from her cervix without her consent, but something remarkable was discovered: her cells wouldn’t die and could be multiplied. Even though Lacks died in 1951, her cells (known as HeLa) became integral to some of the most important medical research including the development of vaccines, in vitro fertilization, cloning, and gene mapping. 📷: Washington Post
