We are proud to announce that we will be phasing out plastic from new toy and game packaging, beginning in 2020.

@ccrtelevision if you want to make a difference you may want to focus efforts on big polluters in Asia who are dumping the majority of plastic into the ocean. One of the greatest quotes from the book Jurassic Park deals with man never being able to destroy the planet. It has survived natural disasters far more cataclysmic than man, and it is arrogant to think otherwise. People who are always trying to ban styrofoam or plastics or straws just buying into enviro dads without knowing the real impact. So what, will we switch to more cardboard? Which is heavier and takes more fuel to transport? Requires more trees? More energy to produce? What would you like your toys to be packaged in? Edible soybeans?

I’m sorry, but the more I look at this post, the angrier I get—you are really telling collectors that our hobby is meaningless and that it’s over??? Do you realize that Star Wars as a hobby for example REVOLVES AROUND DISPLAYING IN THE PACKAGE?? And even if you understand nothing else PLEASE realize that the “grope me” open packaging is abhorrent to collectors!! No way we’ll give you $20-$30 for a toy some brat has already licked!!!

honestly all the negative comments on this are highly unnecessary and selfish, yea I get it if you’re an in box collector but they may do it where they are in boxes made out of different materials besides plastic, they may also make toys out of reused plastic. people really shouldn’t be so selfish ab this like do u wanna save our earth or no

@tuomilps it takes time for manufacturers to get on board and start producing new packaging, but I’m sure that whatever new toys Hasbro is designing right now are being made with better packaging in mind. 2020 isn’t too far away, I’m honestly impressed because most companies shoot their sustainability goals a lot further like 2030 :)

@___kreeeg___ ikr. i don’t collect hasbros things, but i collect funko pops. i always go through all of them to see if theres any paint mistakes/scratches, and if they removed the plastic and you wouldn’t be able to see it, i’d stop collecting

seeing the product is a very important part of advertisement - and there’s plenty of ways of doing so without using plastic. wait until 2020, hasbro will figure things out and it will be the best way to go about things for our planet.
