People frequently ask me why I chose street art early in my career, and my obvious answer is that I didn’t have any other outlet. No galleries were asking me to do things, but it was also a philosophical thing. I thought that art was too frequently relegated to elitist spaces, and I loved seeing graffiti and posters up on the streets, so street art was a way to put my work in front of a lot of people. There’s also the "medium is the message" principle that street art, as a small act of defiance, is a way of saying public space, and by extension the world, shouldn't be controlled just by the people that have the most power and money, that you have a voice and you have outlets if you are willing to take risks and bend the rules. Putting that message across in my street art is very important to me. - Shepard

I think that art and religion have this same problem- trying to get out of the building and make the message meaningful. Street are is organic and gives opportunity for everyone to experience and respond. And Jesus comes and now relationship is restored and the message is the Spirit is for everyone, not just the priests or the limited to the walls of the building. I know that this is a stretch for some people but not to me. Art needed a savior (street art) and the world needs Jesus, God becoming man- both are personal and important to understanding what this life is about.

This is %100 relatable. Street art has always been the best way for me to express myself and showcase my ideas to the public. As the years pass galleries have had little to no interest in my work but I focus now on improving and learning from my peers and the artist I admire and respect the most. You've being one of the biggest inspirations in my passion for art.

I remember noticing your Andre The Giant stickers very early on. Even though I didn’t know what they were, they still registered. Only much later when I learned about and understood your art did I realize that in and of itself was at least part of the point.

I have always respected you. You gave us art that makes us think. I dont care for spray painted monikers. That is dumb and not expressive of the art.
