We counted the years we knew each other by the trees of Linda Vista’s seasonal fashion choices more than anything. How many times had we seen them looking bare and skeletal, only for them to suddenly (or so it always seemed) waltz out and show off that luscious coat of leaves? We loved them both.
I’ve missed those trees.
I’ve missed that drive.
I’ve missed you.
They were always our reminder of how long we had been in each other’s lives. How many times we had driven that street together. Every Sunday. To church and then to the grocery store. And then back under the trees of Linda Vista.

I’ve missed our trees.
I’ve missed our drives.
I’ve missed you.

For 6 years, we were a Sunday morning team. 60 years apart, almost to the day. An odd couple? Pffft. We talked, laughed, listened, hugged and stocked you up on microwave dinners. It was grand.

Life then took me for drive a state away.
I still miss those trees.
I still miss that drive.
I still miss you.

And now, 5 years later, death has taken you on a drive a world away.

I will always miss our trees.
I will always miss our drives.
I will always miss you.

But one day, we’ll see each other again and have an eternity of Sundays.

I can’t wait for those trees.
I can’t wait for those drives.

I understand what it's like to miss a loved one, my grandfather helped raise me he was a father to me hes been gone 10 years now, I miss him dearly.
