This week, the UK home office launched a frankly bizarre anti-knife crime campaign across chicken shops in England and Wales with over 321,000 black boxes printed with “real life stories to show people how they can go #KnifeFree.”
Not only does the campaign reinforce racist stereotypes, but the idea that plugging money into redecorated chicken boxes and not into, say, the vital youth services that help break the cycle of violence shows the government’s willingness to demonise communities, rather than properly invest in them.
WDYT of the campaign? 💬⬇️

word on the curb did an installation over the weekend getting people to write on chicken boxes what actually should be done about knife crime, and of course the overwhelming answers were to invest in youth services!!

Just another band-aid over a bullet wound. Makes no sense why people continue not to invest in more realistic, long-term solutions.

From a different perspective, people become desensitised to obligatory messages on packaging anyway - look at tobacco.
