This week, the UK home office launched a frankly bizarre anti-knife crime campaign across chicken shops in England and Wales with over 321,000 black boxes printed with “real life stories to show people how they can go #KnifeFree.” ⁠

Not only does the campaign reinforce racist stereotypes, but the idea that plugging money into redecorated chicken boxes and not into, say, the vital youth services that help break the cycle of violence shows the government’s willingness to demonise communities, rather than properly invest in them. ⁠
