ロレンザ・イゾさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ロレンザ・イゾInstagram)「I spent the day at our border in Tijuana yesterday. I say “our” with intention, I’m a proud Chilean immigrant and the US is my home. The crisis at the border is a very deep, very layered issue, it’s been happening for a very long time and the recent (past two years) headlines and news have made it all the more confusing and harrowing. Bottom line, there’s people who need help and there’s people who want to help. For those of us in that category that don’t quite know how, I hope this helps a little bit! Yesterday was eye opening and humbling for me. The main need is for legal representation and translators for the affected families and individuals to argue their cases in courts. That reduces big time the amount of people that can easily help. However, for the waiting period and in general for the families and children, there are organizations and shelters that are doing incredible work both in Mexico and on the ground in LA and San Diego that need an extra hand. @yeswecanwf provides schooling in a mobile bus for the children waiting to hear their futures @wckitchen providing nutritious meals on the ground, Caritas and movimiento juventud 2000 both shelters in Tijuana that we were able to visit.
