My first job was delivering newspapers for the Vancouver Sun. The house in the painting is my childhood home. My brothers and I spent years trying to kill each other on that lawn. There are a lot of Easter eggs in the painting, including my idol, John Candy on the front page of the newspaper. The house no longer stands but it’s a living, breathing thing in my head. This piece of art is the greatest present my wife has ever given me. It was created by @dannygalieote. If there’s ever a fire, I’m grabbing this first. I’ll come back for Blake.

rosemariebabcock6672 That is an amazing painting even more amazing is the story behind it, the true life story behind it. Reminds me of my own childhood, growing up in San Fernando Valley, CA. We lived on a really great cul-de-sac where all of us kids could play and ride her bike’s, and yes we have the paper boys come to deliver our papers too. We became great friends with these paper boys always polite and always made sure that they walked it right up the driveway and put the paper on the doorstep. Thank you for sharing that it is beautiful, what a wonderfully heartfelt gift @blakelively has given you vancityreynolds! ♥️

wolverine_land I loved John Candy too❤️ I didn’t have a father and as a kid I wanted him to be my dad sooo badly. I believed he would be. When he died I was in HS, I was devastated. I knew he’d never be my dad obviously at that age but my whole childhood, those younger years, he was my dad ya know? Ugh.... I love this gift your wife gave to you. It is gorgeous and so so special. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

billiejean51 In a strange way my youngest brother was like that about his collection of Winnie the Pooh. Sad thing there was a fire at his house about 4 years after he and his wife moved in. Needless to say: he saved all the Pooh bears and the wife wasn’t home so he didn’t have to go back into the house to get her.
