Plastic waste is a scourge of modern life. On the Ivory Coast, a group of women is turning it into an asset that will help other women earn a decent living while cleaning up the environment – and improving education. The women make their living in Abidjan picking up plastic waste on the city streets and selling it for recycling. They’re lead players in a project that turns trash into plastic bricks to build schools across the West African country. The new plastic-brick classrooms are badly needed — some classrooms now pack in as many as 90 students. And while mud brick erodes in the sun and rain, the new plastic classrooms could last practically forever. Visit the link in our bio to read more. @yagazieemezi took this photo.

Here's an interesting tactic for creating warm beaches . Using a rising and dropping drop cloth with sand which warms up a sand pack and submerges into water ... Essentially an angled beach cannopy with a thin silt .... Could be used to cool waters. Of create a bouncy style sand floor which also protects rip tides and allows crustations and small fish to flourish. Good way to protect corroding beaches and really control temperature affected beaches. Should be great for kids too. @epagov @greenpeace @realdonaldtrump @whitehouse trumpoline idea. Hehe 😈 for beaches.

Lol. This is a sad story. Kids don't have schools. Mom's don't have cash or jobs. What do you think quality of life is like for plastic pickers. (Hint: not good) Plastic schools won't be very good structures. Plastic brick school may be better than no school, but it's not a real solution to these people's problems.

While I think this is all great, I can’t help but to think about the effects of the sun hitting the plastic for a long period of time. Wouldn’t that create a chemical reaction of some sort? If so, what are the effects on the human body, on their overall health? What are the long term effects?

@cookie6482 "a group of women" is correct, if you're American. British English seems to prefer "are," i.e., the "newlywed couple are." But given that language is fluid (today none of us speaks as Chaucer or Shakespeare once did), the collective noun "group" takes a singular verb.

Plastic is toxic and children encased in it, in hot weather, breathing it in is probably not good for their health. At least they will be smart when they get cancer. Plastic is forever. So is death.
