I AM A GUN OWNER.I WAS RAISED HAVING GUNS LIVING IN THE COUNTRY.THIS IS NOT A PARTY OR A POLITICAL ISSUE ITS A HUMAN ISSUE THAT POLITICIANS CAN FIND SOLUTIONS FOR. THE PURPOSE OF SAVING LIVES. 🇺🇸 More than 250 mass shootings in America so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. This week’s @TIME Magazine cover features the communities forever changed by these horrific acts of violence.
NOBODY IS TRYING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY.LET THE CONVERSATION BE CONSTRUCTIVE. Background checks on Ammunition? It’s one of a 100 constructive ideas we can discuss… 🇺🇸 PS. Please don’t show your ignorance here. This is an opportunity to think outside the box. I am trying too.

The following text is from the ACTUAL study your sources tried to quote. Please read. The point was not to prove or disprove a particular point but to serve as a blueprint for further study. You quoted it out of context.
The CDC and the CDC Foundation2 requested that the Institute of Medicine (IOM), in collaboration with the National Research Council (NRC), convene a committee of experts to develop a potential research agenda focusing on the public health aspects of firearm-related violence—its causes, approaches to interventions that could prevent it, and strategies to minimize its health burden. In accordance with the CDC’s charge, the committee did not focus on public health surveillance and potentially related behavioral/mental health issues, as these will be addressed separately. The research program envisioned by the committee, which is designed to produce impacts in 3-5 years, focuses on
• the characteristics of firearm violence,
• risk and protective factors,
• interventions and strategies,
• gun safety technology, and
• the influence of video games and other media.
The committee identified potential research topics by conducting a survey of previous relevant research, considering input received during the workshop, and using its expert judgment. The committee was not asked to consider funding for the research agenda, and in addition to the CDC, it is likely that other agencies and private foundations will also implement the research agenda. Consequently, the committee identified a full range of high-priority topics that could be explored with significant progress made in 3-5 years. Research on these topics will improve current knowledge of the causes of firearm violence, the interventions that prevent firearm violence, and strategies to minimize the public health burden of firearm violence. To allow the research community flexibility in designing the research protocols, the report does not specify the methodologies that should be used to address the research topics.

@nikkisixxpixx it's a heart problem for some reason people hate. I don't have the answer I really don't know because you can take everything away weapon wise and a hating heart will find another way to kill. You are correct find a out of the box way it's not going to be a simple fix either. You can't make everyone love each other or get along but how can we learn to live together without killing because of our beliefs. Can't we disagree without fighting and killing? The answer is love but how can we make people love one another enough to leave each other alone if we don't agree. There is nothing more we can do with guns to check people nothing because guns like illegal drugs are available in other ways. People will get what they want no matter what laws are laid upon legal people like us. I mean Timothy McVeigh used a bomb to achieve his goal, 9/11 airplanes for example. But try to purchase a weapon legally and they even want your bra size. This answer to this is people not more legislature but people helping people. You have a great post and your right it's not political it does not matter who does where every president has had mass shootings. It's evil in the heart. It's sad and it's scary.

I’m a little late to this party but THANK YOU!!! People are so obsessed with guns (rather that be blaming them or keeping them) that they are overlooking the entire issue. People. First of all, any honest person wouldn’t be hindered by stricter gun laws; however, at the same time, I think people are trying way too hard to put the blame solely on guns. You can take the gun away from a homicidal person and it doesn’t change the fact that they’re homicidal. Humanity just needs to chill and think about it for a second. Those blaming guns need to sit back and ask themselves, “will banning guns stop the violence? can we really guarantee the people safety by banning just one of the many many weapons there are?” And people who are overlooking the ENTIRE issue solely because they want to keep their guns need to sit back and think, “would mass shootings and killings even be as big an issue if people stopped for two seconds to think about others? if humanity stopped to consider all peoples’ feelings?” I mean, I don’t know. In the end, no one can guarantee a safer, better country but US, the people who occupy it, but it’s proving harder than it looks. Okay, I’m done!

Raised in the country & from a many USMC family. I have had a fun since I was a little kid. Never disrespect its power or even thought of it. But we definitely need extensive background checks that include social media, interviews of family/friends, a wait period of 2+ weeks and I’m not sure what else. I don’t want my rights taken away but this epidemic is terrible. And I know it may upset some but I see NO reason for a civilian to own an automatic rifle that can hold a big amount of ammo. That should be only for the military in my opinion. I’m a hunter & I live in the sticks so I have guns for protection. I like to target shot also. I have no use for a gun that powerful. They need to be taken off the market but it’s too late, there are many out there already. I appreciate this post Nikki. I’m a conservative who looks at life from both sides open mindedly. I respect life. Let’s work together...please

@nikkisixxpixx I think first we need to take a hard look at what this world is doing to people. What has changed in the past few decades that is breaking people down & bringing them to the point that they would do such things! As a gun owner obviously you know that a gun doesn't pull it's own trigger. The person with their finger on it does. Obviously the ones doing these acts have some deep seeded issues! But before we penalize everyone I wish we could delve deeper into what has changed and caused these problems in people! I think demonizing them & any gun is overlooking a much bigger problem. Just saying they're evil is an easy scapegoat to not look at ourselves and our society.

Ohhhhh.....I don’t know what the answer is but, don’t be fooled. The end goal is to get your guns. If you think “they” aren’t, you truly don’t understand that it’s ALL about politics and control. Why is there never any outcry about how many cars have killed innocent people when they are driven by a drunk. Should we have stricter car buying laws? It’s a shame what has happened to these innocent people and I’m not at all advocating these nut jobs actions but, just like there are people who have no business driving a car, there will be people who have no business owning a gun. We need to get to the root of the problem, not blame the method by which a crime was committed.
