I was excited about motherhood until I found out today you get stitches in your vagina, have to wear an ice packed diaper for weeks, your nipples bleed, and you crap on the table 👍🏻 I’ll prob still do it though.

@erinfoster consider a midwife if you dont wanna have to birth on “the table,” get someone who early on will start teaching on perineal protection, and who will tell you bleeding nipples are not normal and typically a sign of poor latch, which gets established the moment that baby gets introduced to your chest...which is hopefully immediately after it comes out. I have lots of lovely ob friends who are badass so its nothing against them, but perhaps if a lot what you said up there is automatically considered normal id suggest looking into a LICENSES midwife, (ucla santa barbara has some as well as many other major hospitals out there having private midwife practices with delivery rights at the hospitals...), and definitely consider getting a doula to throw everything theyve got in their bag of tricks to prevent everything you said up there as best they can. Also!!! Just cause we’re midwives and doulas doesnt mean we’re gonna birth you in a backwoods cabin rubbing sloth spit on youre forehead 😉 You want an epidural at 1cm go for it, we dont care, we’re just masters at amplifying the baseline health and NORM that pregnancy and labor IS that our beloved ob counterparts have to pay a hell of a lot of their time to mastering their badass surgical skills on. That’s why where I trained we know the best option for all women is the option of both, ESPECIALLY if you are low risk, you should go with a midwife. We’re highly trained medical providers, not a bunch of uneducated wild hippies running about naked 😉 Carriage House Birth in LA is a great spot to look into. Good luck !!!!

If it makes you feel better, that’s not ALL necessarily true. Most are out of the hospital in a couple of days sans diaper (never heard of that) or ice, and I had my first after 40 with a vary long labor and many hours of pushing. Crap on the table is the least of your concerns and not your problem. It’s going to be great!

Nooooo!!!! Don’t believe all that! I had a 10lb baby in the water. It was ‘easy’! (I had 3 stitches but didn’t hurt.). I’ve literally had worse migraines, cramps, fevers. Take hypnobirthing class, read Ina May, read Birthing from Within. Surround yourself with empowered women.

Uh, an ice packed diaper? Damn, I didn't get that treatment, I got stitches, mesh panties and a "numbing" spray that actually burned like a motherfucker. Not fair! It was worth it, I got my son but I never wanted to experience that kind of pain again so we stopped at ONE.

Lol, stop freaking people out 😂 Stitches yes (episiotomy) but I had three kids and none of that other stuff happened 😉. Current trend is to make people think everyone 💩 on the table. Like everyone has bladder leakage. Neither is true 🤷🏼♀️ :)

I have gone through two pregnancies and never experienced that. A child growing inside your womb is the most wonderful experience ever. A child is the biggest blessing and worth any kind of pain during childbirth.
