reallyshakira @marcia_marcia_marcia__ yes believe it or not, I was told by their customer service rep that “federal regulations require you give your social security in full and your birthdate”, I replied back saying “I’m not opening up a new credit card with you guys, I’d like to use my personal credit card”, he said even to use my own credit card, I’d have to provide my SS# and birthdate. I refused so he said he couldn’t continue with the transaction. I hung up in utter shock! The more I think about it, I wonder how many other callers he’s scammed and if he has an identity theft motive on the side. I don’t know where this particular call center of theirs was, but identity theft is a big business overseas. He tried telling me that whenever I place an order over the phone, I have to provide my SS#. I told him this isn’t my first time placing an order over the phone! Anyway, hope EB is able to catch this crook and do some research on him to see what he’s doing with customers SS numbers (I’m sure he was able to get a few from innocent customers in the past).

reallyshakira Hi, I just tried to place an order over the phone and the employee asked me to give him my full social security number and birthdate, when I told him I’m not interested in opening up a credit card, he said even to use my personal credit card, federal law requires I give my full social security number and birthdate. I asked to speak to a supervisor, he said a supervisor isn’t available right now, then I asked for his employee ID number and name and he said they don’t have to give it to customers if they don’t want to. @eddiebauer what kind of business are you guys running? I’d rather not shop at Eddie Bauer instead of getting scammed!! I called your customer service number listed on your website and this is the service I get!! Note to everyone: I don’t know where their call centers are but this guy sounded like he had a foreign accent (maybe Asian), I don’t know how many other innocent Eddie Bauer customers are getting scammed by this call center! Beware!!
