If you’re saying it’s mental health... who will decide who is mentally healthy enough? What about all the people who showed no signs of violence then shot up a room? And who is going to pay for these precog mental health screenings? We can’t even agree on what healthcare is in the US. So your argument is it’s mental health. But I know plenty of people who have psychological issues - are you saying the government (who you want less of if you are truly Republican) should what, keep an eye on them? So more of the Big Brother many of you want to protect yourselves from with AKs and ARs. It’s like not all rhombuses are squares but all squares are rhombuses. So... Not all mentally ill people are violent and guns aren’t what kill people. But 100% of people who use ARs and AKs to commit mass murder are mentally ill... why not just get rid of those guns (or all guns, hell I don’t care) and control the one variable that we have a say over. If you care about your communities and the rising white supremacy that is coming for us ALL (Cut to Candice Keller riding naked atop a Bald Eagle clutching her pearls) and you love America, isn’t it selfish to wanna keep your gun if getting rid of it followed a law that protected the greater good? Isn’t that what a democracy is? All of us focusing on the whole, less focus on the individual? E PLURIBUS UNUM! Out of many, one. Meaning we come together to be one! The mental health argument is A STRAW MAN ARGUMENT. Also... if it’s mental health... are you actually saying that every other country (despite the socialized healthcare) has infinitely better and fully treated mental health issues and that’s why they don’t have mass shootings? No. It’s because they don’t have the same obsession with guns. 🔥 If these guns are obtained legally... why wouldn’t we make it that much harder to get them?

I take consciously effort and profession in taking care of myself and strengthing my mental and physical strengths everyday. I've learned to stay hard and gain a never quit mentality knowing there's no finish lines in life and no easy way outs other than hard working, owning my failures and excuses and holding myself 100% accountable for every last thing I am, do and done. I constantly seek to just simply cut all the bullcrap out of my life and continue as a monk, with a small friend circle and remaining self reliant. I will always love my life

kbkmomof3 Here’s a perspective for you all. My son lost his license for rolling through a stop sign when he was 18 cuz he had his license for less than a year. He was on his own at the time and couldn’t afford to pay the fine so they kept tacking on penalties and interest. He is now 24 and has lost every years tax returns to cover the interest and still had to go to court, pay the balance, go to a driving class, wait in line at dmv, pay a reinstatement fee, get insurance and then still wait for his license to come in the mail. But he could go down the road a mile and be a gun owner in an hour.

taulbee25 @ilizas the powers that be should lump hate speech in with terrorism, inciting violence. Offer a buyback on weapons of war, then impose laws, fines for possession. As for the mental health issue, Universal base income would go along way for a lot of people. Money, or lack thereof, stresses people out or makes them feel literally worthless. Which creates a vicious circle until they lash out. And I know there are other causes and reasons for poor mental health, but by and large economic/financial stress is at the forefront.

txtundrae I'm not anti-gun, I fully agree America needs to take mental health more seriously, AND I AGREE WITH THIS!!!!!! You don't have to be one extreme or another people, you just have to be human and have a damned heart. I own a gun for my protection - which by no means equals a reason to own an AR/AK/assault rifle. I'm not in the military. For the record, mine is just big enough to make the bad guy think twice (which really means it small but makes a noise when cocked). Do no harm, take no shit, but above all DO NO HARM!!!!
