It feels like there is not enough air in my lungs, so deep runs the grief that I feel for the people killed in Gilroy and El Paso and Dayton. The families who now must bear the burden of this country’s ancient crisis have not only my thoughts and prayers, but my muscles and sinew and bones and marrow in the fight for our lives. My entire self is dedicated to fighting this hideous monstrosity that is as old as America.
There is so much that I want to say to you about how white men in America are taught to be contemptuous of anything and everything that isn’t them. That in dehumanizing others we lose our own humanity. That many white men reject this training, and that others embrace it and they have become a deadly force.
That there is no debate about the GOP merely having a different ideology about economics and personal responsibility, no, they are enablers of white supremacy and white nationalism.
I want to tell you that when bigots are invited to speak on platforms, whether in schools or podcasts or national news, death is on the doorstep. That the mainstream media’s refusal to hold white men who kill people accountable has helped us reach this crisis point.
Most importantly, I want to tell you that this system wants nothing more than for us to disappear. To lose ourselves in despair and powerlessness. That tension you feel in your chest, I feel it too. That the only way we will survive this thing is to find and fight for each other. If ever there was a time to believe in our power, it is today. And if you cannot do it alone, tie your grief to mine and let’s make ourselves an unstoppable force that makes change inevitable.

@dianexguerrero @janayathefuture please take a minuet to read this article (https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/lubbock-man-allegedly-plotting-mass-shooting-charged-making-false-statements-firearms) Now, has this black man gone through with his planned attack, how would your narrative have changed?? Would it still be only a white personal problem? What about the 60 mostly African Americans that were shot and killed in Chicago over the last week? I 100% agree that something needs to be done about these mass shootings, but to try and point the finger at one specific race is stupid and solely an attempt to gain traffic to your page for personal (maybe financial?) benefit.

I am sure that when you continue to blame a specific race and sex for actions of a few that it does not cause more division. Blame white men who are already mad so they can have further justification for their extreme actions. Blaming this kind of stuff on one thing is shortsighted. All it does is add fuel to the fire.

Don’t hate whitey! We are not all bad. As with any group of people, you are going to have bad apples. It is the law of averages.
